Brian Voigt started as the Raiders head coach in 2017. He took over after being an assistant for the men’s basketball program during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. Voigt came to the CLC from Northern State University, where he was a baseball graduate assistant coach perusing his master’s degree. Voigt also serves as CLC head baseball coach. 

Voigt is no stranger to the court within MCAC, as he was a two-year starter for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 Riverland Blue Devils, where he served as a captain during his sophomore season. 

In 2013-15, Voigt served as an assistant coach at Southland High School, where he coached the 7-8thgrade teams and assisted with the varsity program. 

Voigt was a dual sport athlete at Riverland and during his freshman year was voted the school’s “Male Athlete of the Year.” Voigt’s freshman season was shortened due to an injury, but when he returned to the court for the second half of the season he averaged 10.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals a game.  As a sophomore, Voigt started 19 games, where he averaged 12 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game. 

Upon finishing his career at Riverland, Voigt transferred to Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD where he was a two-year starter for the baseball team. He completed his degree in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration. 

Voigt is a native of Adams, MN, where he graduated from Southland High School. He was a three-year letter winner in basketball, four years in baseball and three years in football. He was a two-time Three Rivers All-Conference player, three-time for baseball and one time for football.

Preview

During the 2018-19 season, the Raiders finished with 18-10 overall and 11-5 in the Northern Division. This earned the Raiders a third place finish in the Northern Division and third place in the Region. The team averaged 76.6 points while only allowing 57.8 points. It was also a year with awards for the individuals with two Academic All-Americans: Paige Wallevand (Second) and Sam Schmipp (Third). Seven players were over a 3.0 GPA (Wallevand, Schmipp, Liz Anderson, Lindsay Hendrickson, Kezia Rahier, Katelyn Waytashek and Kelsie Weite). Members of the Northern All-Division team were Schmipp and Weite. The All Northern Division team had Paige Wallevand (Second) and Maggi Fellerman (Honorable Mention) and Wallevand was Second Team All-MCAC.
