Krystal Brodeen enters her first season as the head women’s basketball coach at Central Lakes. Prior to CLC, Coach Brodeen served as the head volleyball coach at Vermilion Community College in the fall of 2021, and previously as the head volleyball and women’s basketball coach at Vermilion in 2017-2019.

Along with her coaching experience in the MCAC, Brodeen also participated in both volleyball and basketball at Vermilion as a student-athlete, earning All-Academic honors and captain roles.

A native of Cook, MN, Brodeen was a 4-year letter award winner in both volleyball and basketball at Cook High School and the inaugural year of the North Woods School, where she graduated from in 2012. She went on to earn her Associate’s degree in Business from Vermilion Community College, then her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Bemidji State University in the spring of 2016. She recently completed her Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in the spring of 2021.

Coach Brodeen is active in many other aspects of basketball in the state of Minnesota, from running youth basketball camps with Pacesetter’s Basketball to coaching AAU with Starks Elite. She is also a member of the WBCA and PGC Basketball. Within her coaching philosophy, Coach Brodeen is most passionate about empowering young women through sport, supporting her student-athletes’ mental health, and setting her players up for success on and off the court.
